Especially in summer, the south of France is unfortunately ravaged by forest fires. So that is the reason why the need of specialized forest fire engines is high in these parts. Since 2020, Saint Paul en Forêt Fire Station in the Var region uses this 2019 forest fire engine. It is based on a Renault D14 4x4 chassis and is built by Sides. Apart from the 3400 liter main watertank, there is a second watertank of 480 liters designated for the self protection system of the engine. When in use, a water fog will protect the cabin and the wheels, while the red light on the roof will flash to indicate that this engine is in trouble.
